The story
Thomas Rutland built the Georgian townhouse in the 1770s; it was later sold to Dr. James Murray, a Scottish immigrant who became the leading physician in Annapolis during the Revolutionary era. James Iglehart bought the house in 1848 and remodeled it, adding stone mantelpieces, window architraves and other Greek Revival woodwork and creating double parlors. Today it is a three-room bed and breakfast, each room on a separate floor, a block from City Dock.
