The story
The Yosemite Park and Curry Company built the hotel of steel, stone, concrete, wood and glass to Gilbert Stanley Underwood’s design, opening it in 1927 beneath Half Dome and Yosemite Falls. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. During a trademark dispute with the outgoing concessioner it was called the Majestic Yosemite Hotel from 2016 until the name was restored in 2019.
