The story

Philip and Alice Nordquist moved from Chicago with their daughter and granddaughter and built Tall Pines Court in 1947: six round-pine log cabins in a quarter-circle facing a dogtrot owners’ house. It has run continuously since under names including Tall Pines Motel and Tall Pines Motor Inn. Its seven original log buildings were listed on the National Register in 1999. Keith and Michelle, from North Dakota, bought it in 2018.

The ghost story

The innkeepers say guests have reported unexplained knocking in Cabins 6 and 26 and a housekeeper heard voices in an empty Cabin 20; they credit a benevolent, mischievous ghost they call "Steve".
