The story
The Works Progress Administration built Standing Stone’s hewn-log rental cabins during the Great Depression on land reclaimed from eroded farms around Kelly Lake. The National Register district, listed in 1986, dates most of the log cabins to about 1938. The state unveiled a set of upgraded WPA cabins in 2020, and the park now rents 14 smaller rustic cabins and 7 three-bedroom deluxe cabins.
