The story
Kittie Heit, who ran the Bon Ton restaurant in a frame building next door, built the hotel, and it originally catered to miners. After her death in 1915 it passed through several owners. Stucco covered the original brick front from the 1950s until the owners removed it in 1982, uncovering the brick, and the building was renovated under federal tax-act incentives.
