The story

The Silver Queen dates from 1876 and sits on C Street at the heart of Virginia City. Its saloon, which dates from the 1870s, displays the Silver Queen, a 15-foot portrait commissioned in 1958 by owner Carroll Eaton and set with 3,261 Morgan silver dollars and a belt of 28 $20 gold coins. The hotel also runs an on-site wedding chapel, where Captain & Tennille married. To keep a period feel it has no air conditioning, TVs or elevator.

The ghost story

Lore holds that Rosie, a prostitute who worked at the hotel, killed herself in Room 11 and never left the building, a story hotel staff told KOLO 8 News in 2018; Ghost Adventures host Zak Bagans has told Mental Floss that Room 11 inspired the '11' tattoo on his arm.
