The story

Wilmington businessman and banker Henry Russell Savage built the house in 1848. The Bacon family lived here from 1881 to 1891, including sons Henry Bacon Jr., later architect of the Lincoln Memorial, and Francis Bacon. The district inventory records it as the Savage-Bacon House, a two-story Italianate house altered in 1909.
