The story

By 1940, pressed by the NPS and encouraged by Swiftcurrent’s success, the Glacier Park Hotel Company began a low-cost auto camp at Roes Creek for travelers arriving by car rather than by railway. The cabins, general store and registration building went up in 1941. Showers were added to the cabins in 1958, and the store’s former coffee shop became a nine-unit motel in 1965. The camp took the Rising Sun name in 1950.
