The story
Charles Phelps Taft built the Phelps in 1926 to encourage business people to live downtown rather than move to the suburbs. Garber & Woodward designed it. It was converted from apartments to an extended-stay hotel, which opened in 2011 as the first Marriott-branded hotel in downtown Cincinnati. The 134 suites have full kitchens, and a rooftop bar looks over the city and northern Kentucky.
