The story
Prospect Hill was an 18th-century wheat farm in Louisa County’s Green Springs district, a fertile 14,000-acre bowl settled by Tidewater families from the 1720s. The 1973 landmark nomination lists the frame main house with its icehouse, kitchen, smokehouse and servants’ quarters, and describes the house as an enlarged 18th-century residence reflecting 19th- and 20th-century tastes. HABS documented the main house, carriage house, barns and slave quarters. Today it is a 40-acre country inn with rooms in the main house and outbuildings.
