The story

Henry Clay Dodson, who founded the St. Michaels Brick Company in 1877 after fires in 1870 and 1872, built the brick house in 1883 with brick inlays and a central tower and steeple, apparently as a showplace for his brickyard. His daughter Hannah and her husband Dr. Joseph Seth later lived there and in 1924 sold it to the Union United Methodist Church, which used it as its parsonage. Willard F. Workman and his son bought it in 1985, restored it, added a three-room rear wing and opened it as a bed and breakfast, which then won Maryland’s award for outstanding historic restoration.
