The story
The site at California and Montgomery held Parrott’s Granite Block from 1852, a granite building that survived the 1906 earthquake. In 1926 it was replaced by the Financial Center Building, a bank designed by Frederick H. Meyer. After the building sat mostly empty for about a decade, Omni bought it in 2002 and converted it into a hotel, keeping the original Italian marble and Austrian crystal chandeliers in the lobby.
