The story

Robert Reamer, the 29-year-old architect of the Yellowstone Park Company, designed the inn, and its Old House was built of local logs and stone over the winter of 1903-04. The East Wing followed in 1913-14 and the West Wing in 1927, giving a single building almost 700 feet long. The lobby’s massive stone fireplace and log balconies make it one of the largest log structures in the world. It was listed on the National Register in 1973 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987.

The ghost story

The inn's best-known story is the 'headless bride', a 1915 honeymooner said to have been seen descending from the Crow's Nest with her head under her arm; the concessioner's own blog quotes Yellowstone interpretive specialist Leslie Quinn calling the tale '100% made up' by a former bell captain. The same post retells a guest's report of a woman in late-1800s dress floating at the foot of her bed.
