The story
The older frame section was built about 1880 and ran for almost fifty years as a boarding house (Norton House) and then an inn (Central House). In 1935 Atlanta architect Linton H. Young added a three-story brick hotel wing in an Alpine style with Italianate details that the NR calls unique in the region. The Edwards family ran the hotel from 1914 until 1970, when the dilapidated buildings closed. A 1982 renovation adapted the buildings for modern guests, and they are now the historic core of the Old Edwards resort.
