The story
After fire destroyed the original Sheridan Hotel in 1893, the owners rebuilt in brick and reopened in 1895 as the New Sheridan. The NHL nomination says William Jennings Bryan gave one of his ‘Cross of Gold’ speeches there. Early in the 1900s the bar was briefly converted to a grocery store, and the hotel recently had its first major renovation in over a century.
