The story
Developer James A. Moore built the Moore Theatre and Hotel in 1907 of reinforced concrete, to designs by architect E. W. Houghton; the hotel opened in April 1907, ahead of the theatre. The building is on the National Register and is a Seattle landmark. The Moore Hotel still runs as an economy ‘historical hotel’ without air conditioning, a block from Pike Place Market.
