The story

Robert Reamer recycled the old Mammoth Hotel in 1936-37, keeping its four-story guest-room wing and adding a new lobby and the Map Room, whose wooden map of the United States uses 15 kinds of wood. Behind the hotel he laid out courts of small frame cabins with decorative porch lattices in 1936-38. The concessioner reports a recent major renovation of the public spaces and guest rooms, and the hotel also operates in winter.
