The story
The CCC built Lost River’s rental cabins of chestnut logs on stone foundations, using several notching styles and hand-forged ironwork unique to each cabin. Many keep original furniture such as corner cupboards and cane-seat chairs. The CCC also preserved two settlers’ cabins of about 1800 and 1840, and the park opened to the public on July 1, 1937.
