The story
The ranch began as Clarence Lytle’s homestead and became the Butler-Kilbourne (B-K) family’s log ranch in the late 1920s, with buildings raised by the same crews who worked the family’s other Butler ranch. The family opened it to guests from back East in the 1930s. Later known as Lone Mountain Ranch, it now runs as a year-round resort with Nordic skiing and summer riding. The 2006 National Register listing covers the historic log buildings, and later cabins are non-contributing.
