The story

Gardiner architect Edwin E. Lewis designed the Queen Anne house for Charles E. Littlefield, starting it in 1890, the same year he began the house that became the Greenville Inn. When it was finished in 1892 it was valued at $4,500. The original house had an attached octagonal barn, later lost to fire; Littlefield added bay windows on the east side in the 1890s and the corner turret after that. It is now an eight-room inn with rooms named for Maine coastal islands.
