The story
Crews built the lodge on the south shore of Lake Quinault in just 53 days in 1926, hauling lumber and fixtures over fifty miles of gravel road, and it opened with a gala on August 18, 1926. President Franklin D. Roosevelt lunched there on October 1, 1937, and the dining room is named for him. It is on the National Register and is run year-round in Olympic National Forest.
