The story
The eight-story Knickerbocker was completed in 1929 as one of the large residential apartment hotels built on Milwaukee’s lower east side during the 1920s, designed by the Milwaukee firm Rosman & Wierdsma in the Neoclassical Revival style. Its upper floors mixed hotel rooms with kitchenette apartments, about 30 units per floor. It was listed on the National Register in 1988. Today it operates as an independent hotel of rooms and suites with a restaurant, salon and spa.
