The story
Michael Kaiser, founder of the Philipsburg Water Company, built this grand hotel in 1881. The original had a wraparound porch, second-story French doors and four Norman-arched double doors, with a bar, billiard room and 50-cent T-bone steaks. A three-story annex of about 1890 was once joined to it by a second-story walkway and later became the Stephens Hotel. Today four guest rooms carry historic themes.
