The story
Poet and translator Witter Bynner came to Santa Fe in 1922, rented a cottage from newspaper editor Ben Muniz, bought it a year later and enlarged it (NRHP nomination). Bynner and his companion Robert Hunt hosted D.H. Lawrence, Willa Cather, Ansel Adams, Igor Stravinsky and Georgia O’Keeffe, among others. After Bynner died in 1968 the estate went to St. John’s College, which used it as a residence hall. Ralph Bolton and Robert Frost bought it in 1996 and opened the bed and breakfast; Dan Clark and David Solem bought it in 2014.
