The story
Army engineers built Pershing Hall in 1903 as housing for unmarried officers on the Presidio’s Main Post, an early example of the base’s Colonial Revival buildings. The Presidio closed as an Army post in the 1990s and became part of a national park site. In 2012 the restored hall opened as the Inn at the Presidio, the first hotel inside the park, with 22 rooms including 17 suites with fireplaces; the historic Funston House is part of the inn.
