The story
The July 1900 fire leveled five blocks of downtown Prescott, including most of Whiskey Row and twelve hotels. The Hotel St. Michael rose on the site of the earlier Burke Hotel, and the hotel says many of its bricks were salvaged and cleaned from the fire. It is one of the few original post-fire buildings still standing on the Row. Its Otis traction elevator, installed in 1925, was the first elevator in Prescott.
