The story

The 20-story Phillips opened in February 1931 on the site of the Glennon Hotel, where Harry S. Truman had run a haberdashery; at opening it was Kansas City’s tallest hotel. Its lobby holds an eleven-foot Goddess of Dawn sculpture made in 1931 by Kansas City sculptor Jorgen Dreyer. It ran as a Radisson in the 1990s and was bought by Marcus Hotels in 2001. Arbor Lodging Partners bought it in 2015, renovated it, and joined Hilton’s Curio Collection.
