The story
Built in 1899 during the railway resort boom, the Perry describes itself as one of Michigan’s remaining Victorian-era resort hotels still operating. Stafford Smith, who later owned the Bay View Inn, briefly worked as its assistant manager in 1960-61. Long known as Stafford’s Perry Hotel, it now operates as Hotel Perry under the Cotton Collection.
