The story
The Hotel Northland opened on March 21, 1924 as the largest hotel in Wisconsin, one of a chain of hotels built by Milwaukee hotelier Walter Schroeder to designs by Herbert W. Tullgren. Visiting teams playing the Green Bay Packers stayed there, as did John F. Kennedy, Eleanor Roosevelt and Vince Lombardi, and it is a stop on the Packers Heritage Trail. It later became the Port Plaza Towers senior residence. After a $35 million renovation backed by state tax credits, it reopened on February 14, 2019 in Marriott’s Autograph Collection.
