The story
Set back from the shore between the Spring House and the landing, the Manisses was rebuilt to its present form in 1882. The nomination calls it the best furnished of Block Island’s big hotels, dominated by a projecting central tower with a pagoda cupola. In 1974 its rear wing had been condemned while the main block was being restored. It now operates as a boutique hotel with a restaurant and bar.
