The story

The American Insurance Union commissioned Detroit architect C. Howard Crane to design its 47-story headquarters, opened in 1927 and built 5 inches taller than the Washington Monument. It was Columbus’ tallest building until 1974. The complex originally included a 600-room hotel and the Keith-Albee (later Palace) Theatre. Renamed the Lincoln-LeVeque Tower in 1946 and the LeVeque Tower in 1977, it was converted into a mixed-use building with a hotel, apartments and condominiums that opened in 2017.
