The story
John H. Bothwell opened the seven-story Classical Revival hotel on June 10, 1927, built for $400,000 to designs by H.L. Stevens & Company with 109 rooms. Harry S. Truman was staying here in 1934 when he learned he had been chosen to run for the U.S. Senate, and Clint Eastwood and Eric Fleming promoted Rawhide here in 1959. It became a senior living facility in 1988, and a former bellboy, Doyle Furnell, bought and restored it as a hotel in 1998.
