The story
Niagara Falls businessman Frank A. Dudley built the 15-story President Hotel in 1925 to designs by Shepard & Wiser, with 453 rooms and a 650-seat roof garden. It was headquarters of the 1928 Republican National Convention that nominated Herbert Hoover, and its Drum Room lounge, opened in 1941 with Winold Reiss murals, drew Frank Sinatra and Benny Goodman. The hotel closed in 1980 and reopened in 2005 as the Hilton President after a $45.5 million restoration by developer Ron Jury.
