The story

The 2001 nomination records this two-story brick block as a Ford Sales and Service building about 1925, and a 1928 Sanborn map shows Ford in this and the adjoining storefront. The GunRunner opened as a hotel in July 2017 with ten suites themed on Shoals music, fashion and landmarks such as Muscle Shoals Sound and Frank Lloyd Wright. Brick walls, exposed beams and original wood floors remain in the 3,200-square-foot common area. The hotel says USA Today voted it the country’s top boutique hotel in 2024.
