The story

U.S. Senator Henry Gassaway Davis, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 1904, built Graceland at Elkins and first occupied it in 1892. The Queen Anne mansion of locally quarried sandstone has thirteen master bedrooms. It now belongs to Davis & Elkins College; after a 1990s renovation it became an inn, closed during the pandemic, and reopened with about ten rooms and a restaurant.
