The story
The hotel opened in November 1889 as the Hotel Warshauer during Baker City’s gold-mining boom and was known as the ‘Queen of the Mines,’ with what was described as the third elevator west of the Mississippi. Mr. Geiser bought it in 1900 and reopened it as the Geiser Grand on January 1, 1902. It closed in 1968 and reopened in 1993 after a restoration; the interior features mahogany columns, Victorian-style chandeliers and a stained-glass ceiling.
The ghost story
The hotel is reported to have not just one ghost but a whole crew of fun-loving spirits.
