The story
Landowner and attorney Amos Frye and his wife Lillian built the inn on the hillside above Bryson City, completing it in 1923. The NR calls it an important and now rare example of the small mountain resort hotel, clad in board-and-batten. Lillian ran it after Amos died in 1935, and the Brown family has been innkeeper since 1982.
