The story
The site was first home to Reverend David Avery, second pastor of Bennington’s Old First Church, in 1783. After the house burned in 1910, leaving only its four chimneys, the present Georgian Revival house was finished in 1916. Restaurateur Jimmy Rallis opened the Four Chimneys Restaurant in 1953, and guest rooms were added from the late 1970s, growing to 11.
