The story
Lumber executive Cyrus C. Warren built the house in 1908 from a design by the Chicago firm Spencer and Powers; the inn says Robert Spencer was an associate of Frank Lloyd Wright. W. E. Guild bought it in 1921 and raised the wings to two stories, and D. C. Simmons bought it in 1930, with his family staying into the 1970s. A garden room linked the carriage house in 1986. A 10-room addition opened in February 2001, bringing the inn to 18 rooms. Peter and Tamar Sharp bought it in 2006.
