The story
After the Great Fire of October 1875 destroyed most of Virginia City, Herman J. Harris bought the empty lots and in 1876 built a three-story Victorian mansion. It sits half a block from Piper’s Opera House and two blocks from C Street. Its six guest rooms are named for Comstock figures such as Mark Twain and Julia Bulette.
