The story
The main house was built as a single-family home between 1862 and 1866 in a modified Greek Revival style with a front-gabled roof, and Capt. V. H. Claiborne bought it in 1871. It stands in Jefferson’s National Register historic district; the inn describes the town as an inland steamboat port of the mid-1800s. The inn serves a full Southern breakfast on china and crystal.
