The story
The Chicago Athletic Association built its Venetian Gothic clubhouse on Michigan Avenue in 1893, designed by Henry Ives Cobb with much of the facade by his assistant Louis Christian Mullgardt. The hotel says the club was reserved for an elite membership for 122 years before the building opened to the public as a hotel. The hotel now includes a Game Room and the rooftop bar Cindy’s.
