The story
Levin Crapper, a landowner and magistrate, built the Georgian house in 1763 on what had been a 1,500-acre estate south of the Mispillion River. It was home to two Delaware governors: Daniel Rogers, who owned it from 1797 to 1806, and Peter F. Causey, who remodeled it in the Greek Revival style, replacing the pitched roof with a third story, a low roof and a widow’s walk. Kenneth and Francis Novak opened it as a bed-and-breakfast in 1986, and Joseph Phillips and Jan Broulik have owned it since 2014.
