The story

Jeffery and Mary Keating built the ruby sandstone house in 1891 to designs by Reiche, Carter & Smith, one of the last vintage homes built before the 1893 silver crash. It stayed a family home until 1923, when it became the Buena Vista Hotel, named for its mountain views. It was later converted entirely to office space before being bought and refitted as the inn, with bathrooms added and a full kitchen installed.
