The story
The oldest part of the inn is an 1835 farmhouse, one of a regional cluster of 19th-century plank-framed houses whose walls are built of 3-inch wooden planking. It became a hunting lodge in the 1920s and took its old name from its location on the ‘back side’ of the Mount Sunapee resort area. A two-story ell was greatly enlarged in the 1950s or 1960s. Renamed the Brook Road Inn, it now offers 12 farmhouse rooms plus separate cabin and townhouse rentals.
