The story
Big Meadows Lodge was built in 1939 for the Virginia Sky-line Company to designs by Marcellus Wright Jr., using stone from the Massanutten range and native wormy chestnut. The district nomination ranks it, with Dickey Ridge Lodge (1938), among the finest examples of rustic park architecture in the eastern national parks. Guests stay in the main lodge and nearby cabins and lodge buildings.
