The story
The light station on Big Bay Point was built in 1896 at a cost of $25,000, and its third-order Fresnel lens went into service on October 20, 1896. The duplex dwelling housed the head keeper and assistant. After automation in 1944 the keepers’ house passed to private owners; Dan Hitchens began converting it to a bed and breakfast after 1979, and Nick Korstad bought it in 2018 and runs it as a B&B while restoring it.
