The story
From 1845 until 1916 the site was a college for young women, known in turn as the Greenville Institute, Daughters College and Beaumont College. Glave and Annie Bell Goddard bought the property at auction in 1917 and opened it as Beaumont Inn in 1919. The Dedman family, the Goddards’ fifth and sixth generations, still runs the inn and its Southern dining room. Guest rooms are in two historic buildings.
