The story

The Hotel Metropole opened on New Year’s Eve 1912 and, under owner Joseph Thoms and his daughter, became one of the city’s most luxurious hotels. A north addition followed in 1924. Decades after the hotel closed, 21c Museum Hotels acquired the building and reopened it as a hotel that doubles as a contemporary art museum. Guest rooms use custom tiles made by Cincinnati’s Rookwood Pottery.
