The story

The eight-story limestone hotel was built in 1905 against the hillside beside Basin Spring Park, with bridge walks giving each upper floor its own ground-level entrance. It replaced the four-story Perry House, Eureka Springs’ first major hotel, built by Capt. Joseph Perry in 1881. In 1944 Roy Parkhill bought it for his nephew Joe Parkhill, who launched the annual Barefoot Ball in 1948 after a ‘Truth or Consequences’ radio stunt. After a run of owners and a Resolution Trust Corporation auction, Marty and Elise Roenigk bought it on February 28, 1997.

The ghost story

The hotel says its halls carry 'enduring ghost stories' and 'reported paranormal activity', and it runs 1.5-hour paranormal investigations led by the Eureka Springs Paranormal Investigators, including its Speakeasy Cave. No specific named ghost was published by the hotel.
